About the region
Peru’s illustrious coffee legacy traces its roots to the late 18th century, marking the emergence of coffee plantations. As the 19th century dawned, coffee cultivation found its way to the enchanting Chanchamayo region, aptly named after the majestic Chanchamayu River originating in the towering Andes Mountain Range.
Peruvian coffee flourishes in the bountiful Andean valleys and verdant high jungle areas, where the harmonious blend of fertile soil, lofty altitudes, and generous moisture creates an idyllic environment for coffee cultivation. To safeguard the fragile ecosystem, coffee is nurtured in the shade of indigenous plant species, fostering the preservation and rejuvenation of native biodiversity.
